The jobs of a mayor and a non-profit higher-up are in question due to a racist Facebook post about Michelle Obama, reports ABC News.
After Donald Trump’s White House win, Pamela Ramsey Taylor, the director of West Virginia’s Clay County Development Corporation, wrote, “It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I'm tired of seeing an ape in heels."
According to WSAZ, Beverly Whaling, the mayor of Clay, responded, “Just made my day Pam."
Though the post was later deleted, it had already spread beyond the point of containment.
Among the backlash was the launching of a petition that demands both women be fired.
The author of the Care2 campaign notes, “Every grant and piece of paper Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Whaling have to fill out and sign promises equal opportunities and a racism free workplace.”
