Pinky and the Brain are seconds away from being captured as we move into the first ad break, where the Cartoon Network logo does a bit of disco dancing.
Following this is a promo where a freaky guy tells us about Cartoon Network showing a bunch of Christmas specials. I’m all for the Tiny Toons Christmas special, personally, but How the Grinch Stole Christmas isn’t a bad pick either.
After Cruella de Vil insults you again, we get an advert for KFC and their Thunderbirds kids’ meal promotion. I remember this promotion mainly because I still have the Mole toy sitting in a box somewhere, along with a bunch of other Happy Meal toys and assorted rubbish.
Next is a TV spot for Pokémon 2000, one of the many sequels to this enormous franchise. (Interestingly, this recording is from the day they were showing advance previews for the film.) I still have the free Ancient Mew trading card advertised here, and I remember showing it off to everybody back in the day, because I thought it was cool. Pathetic, huh?
Then it’s a promo for Toonami - automatically making it awesome - where we’re told we get three hours of action: Dragonball Z and Batman of the Future back-to-back. Of course, I only cared about the latter, but as boring as it was, I always ended up slogging through the anime anyway.
A brief bumper returns us to Pinky and the Brain. This ad break is notably shorter than the previous ones I’ve uploaded, most likely because I was an unstable insomniac of a child, and ended up sneaking downstairs to watch Cartoon Network in the early hours of the morning - when this was recorded - hoping it would ease my pain. Cartoons helped, trust me.
