Donald Trump has come out in defense of Steve Bannon.
Prior to becoming the CEO of Trump’s campaign, and, later appointed by the president-elect to serve as chief strategist, Bannon was the chairman of Breitbart, an ultra-conservative publication.
Maggie Haberman, a reporter present at Tuesday’s New York Times interview with the president-elect, quoted Trump as saying, "If I thought he [Steve Bannon] was a racist or alt-right or any of the things, the terms we could use, I wouldn’t even think about hiring him.”
Many see Bannon differently, with some characterizing him as a white-supremacist, and have voiced great protest over his high-level appointment, notes Politico.
On that matter, Trump commented, “I think it’s very hard on him. I think he’s having a hard time with it. Because it’s not him.”
