Salman Khan was declared guilty by the court today in the 2002 hit-and-run case and he has been sentenced to five years in prison. While his family, friends and members of the film fraternity are quite upset with the verdict, jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali and singer Abhijeet Bhttacharya took it to a different level altogether, by blaming the government and street dwellers for the tragic incident.

In a bid to support Khan, the duo slammed the court’s verdict on Twitter and posted that the people sleeping on the roads were responsible for the accident. As expected, the duo received a lot of flak from the Twitterati.

Farah wrote, “The govt should be responsible for housing ppl.If no 1was sleeping on d road in any other country Salman wuld not have driven over anybody. No one should be sleeping on the road or footpath. It is dangerous to do that just like it is dangerous to cross tracks (sic)."

Abhijeet blamed the homeless writing, "Roads are meant for cars and dogs not for people sleeping on them.. @BeingSalmanKhan is not at fault at all.. Kutta rd pe soyega kutte ki maut marega, roads garib ke baap ki nahi hai I ws homles an year nvr slept on rd (sic)."
He further urged celebs to come out in support of Khan, writing, "Come out fraternity, support @BeingSalmanKhan boldly not hypocriticly Roads footpath r not meant 4 sleeping, not driver's or alcohol's fault. Mumbai ke road Aur footpath pe sone ka shauk hai ?? Y not at your village no vehicles to kill u.. Support @BeingSalmanKhan (sic)."

"Suicide is crime so is sleeping on footpath..80% homeles film ppl strugld achievd stardom but never slept on footpath @BeingSalmanKhan (sic)," he further added.
