"On Parole" by Akira Yoshimura was first published in Japanese language in 1988. The story revolves around Shiro Kikutani, who is serving an indefinite jail sentence for the murder of his wife who he believed was disloyal.

Having spent fifteen years in jail, he is granted parole for good behaviour. He struggles had to get readjusted to a society that he does not recognize now.
