The IXS Ridley is a lightweight, multi-season riding jacket.

Its outer shell is a cotton-poly blend that’s soft to the touch, while underneath is a soloTEX Z-liner which is waterproof and breathable. There are three external pockets along with reflective print for added visibility. There’s also fit adjusters at the hips and cuffs.

We’ve had the Ridley for a few months now, and the exterior shell does a great job deflecting cold air and light rains, better than we’d expected. The only problem we’ve had outside the jacket is with the zippers, especially at the cuffs and side pockets. Material tends to get caught in the zip if you’re not paying attention, more often than with other pieces we’ve worn, and it’s always a hassle when it does.

We also weren’t huge fans of the large “Vintage” patch on the front of the jacket. That’s more a matter of personal taste but it seems a bit too self-referential for a jacket that’s already got a good vintage vibe going on in terms of styling.

In terms of protection, the Ridley comes with elbow and shoulder pads and has an anchorage for a back protector as well. The interior of the jacket, without the full-sleeve quilted liner installed, is polyester mesh. There’s three interior pockets available inside the jacket, with an additional two pockets available when the liner is installed.

The liner is fairly thick and we honestly rode most of the time without it through the fall. We stayed plenty warm without it. With the liner in, there’s a noticeable difference too, making this a really viable option as a year-long riding jacket.

Overall we’re really pleased with the IXS Ridley Jacket. It’s a great jacket on the bike and is a solid off bike option too that excels in keeping the rider warm and dry.
