Studies show sitting too much can age you by 8 years

Sitting too much has long been linked to multiple health issues, including obesity and a higher risk for hypertension and heart attack. Now though, sitting is also being linked to having a detrimental effect on cells as well. A new report in the American Journal of Epidemiology states that sitting for long periods of time during the day can age you by up to eight years. Aladdin Shadyab, leader of the the study Shadyab's study takes note that 30 minutes of semi-vigorous physical activity seemed to help alleviate the toll sitting takes on your cells, though it does not draw conclusions to exactly how much physical activity is needed.
