Populist leader Marine Le Pen is gaining momentum as polls show her taking lead for the first round of the presidential election. French media outlet Le Monde reported Le Pen has about 26 percent support in comparison with her Republican rival Francois Fillon at 24 percent. Following the U.S. election, the election in France has been labeled as a battle between populist and establishment forces. Le Pen has repeatedly said that she wants to take France out of the euro.
