Maekawa Sensei The founder of Meikakukai in Urasoe Dojo Okinawa, Japan (October 2014) Part 1

Grand Master, Nobuo Maekawa was born in Hyogo, Japan in 1948.
He started learning Aikido in 1963 when he was a high school student, and founded the Aikido club of his school in 1964. In 1967, he entered Tottori University and also founded the university's Aikido club while continuously visiting Okinawa to learn Karate. He also began to study an old style Aiki-jiu-jitsu, Ootsuki-ryu Aiki-jiu-jitsu, in those days.

After he graduated, beside keeping training on Aikido, he learned Daito-ryuAiki-jiu-jitsu in Tokyo from 1980 until 1998, and taught Aikido to the students in Tottori university from 1980 until 1997. He also has been teaching Aikido to the students of Ryukyu university since 1988.

In the year of 2000, he founded a martial art society, Meikaku-kai and began to teach Aiki-jiu-jitsu as a Grand Master in Tokyo and Okinawa.

In 2002, his own Dojo was built in Kyoto, which is now the Hombu Dojo of Meikakukai.

Maekawa Sensei currently holds the sixth Dan of the Aikikai Foundation and is a master of traditional Aiki-jiujitsu as well.
