Pop singer Lady Gaga revealed few details on Thursday (February 2) of what viewers can expect from her much anticipated Super Bowl halftime show, but the outspoken singer assured fans she would remain true to her beliefs and passions.

An advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights and a champion for inclusion, Lady Gaga's 13-minute concert on Sunday (February 5) has generated speculation over whether she might use the spotlight to rebut U.S. President Donald Trump's controversial appointments and policies, including travel restrictions targeting seven Muslim-majority nations.

"Well I don't know if I'll succeed in unifying America, you'll have to ask America when it's over," Gaga told a Houston news conference ahead of the Super Bowl.

"But the only statements that I'll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I have been consistently making throughout my career. I believe in a passion for inclusion, I believe in the spirit of equality and the spirit of the country as one of love and compassion and kindness. So my performance will uphold those philosphies," added the six-time Grammy Award winner.

Not once during what appeared to be a carefully scripted news conference did Trump's name come up.

Certainly Lady Gaga would have no shortage of causes to protest, including Trump's plans to build a wall between Mexico and the United States, a large portion of which would cut across Texas, and legislation introduced by a Texas Republican state senator to limit public restroom access for transgender people.

Lady Gaga played coy about everything from her wardrobe choices to set list and theatrics. The only details about Sunday's performance Gaga would share was that it was going to be "tremendously athletic."

"You know I don't want to give that away, I want to keep as much of the show to surprise as possible but I will say that it is a tremendously athletic show and it's something that we really talked about when we were creating the halftime experience. I mentioned that I thought it was important for us to consider, you know, high adrenalin. When you're watching football you're watching guys crash into each other, you're watching some real stratorgizing happening, it's a pretty intense situation and I didn't want the halftime show to take a dip so it's going to be a good time," the 'Bad Romance' singer said.

One of the most memorable and controversial halftime shows ever occurred the last time the Super Bowl was held in Houston in 2004, when Janet Jackson suffered what became known as a "wardrobe malfunction" exposing one of her breasts to millions of viewers.

The singer, who won rave reviews for her rendition of the U.S. national anthem at Super Bowl 50 last year, adds her name to the list of Super Bowl halftime performers that includes some of rock music's most iconic acts in Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Prince, U2, Rolling Stones and The Who.

The political landscape has left the United States somewhat divided, but the singer hopes her show can help to heal the wounds and bring people together again.

The American claims previous half-time performances have inspired her, although she didn't give details about what she'd be doing as she wants to surprise the audience.

The 30-year-old also refused to predict who'd win the game between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons.
