The Trump administration sanctioned Venezuela's Vice President Tareck El Aissami, accusing him of facilitating drug trafficking. According to the treasury department, El Aissami allowed drug shipments to pass through the country's borders via air bases and shipping ports. A treasury official claimed that while Aissami held other government positions, numerous drug shipments were transported to U.S. and Mexico. His frontman, Samark José López Bello, along with his 13 international companies were sanctioned.
