In what has become an annual tradition, the fine folks at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ Mopar division have taken it upon themselves to create a limited-edition variant of a mass-produced FCA product. For the third time since the custom began in 2010, Mopar is unleashing its talents on the Dodge Challenger coupe. The original Mopar ’10 and the later Mopar ’14 were also based on the Challenger. Predictably dubbed the Mopar ’17, the special Challenger will be available in two colors: Contusion Blue and Billet Silver. In honor of Mopar’s 80th anniversary, each color will be limited to an 80-unit production run (160 vehicles in total), with an underhood badge marking each individual vehicle’s production order in relation to its color. No matter the exterior hue, though, every Challenger Mopar ’17 will come equipped with a 485-hp 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 fitted with a Mopar cold-air intake and a Shaker hood scoop. The engine bay is further dressed up with a pair of silver powder-coated strut tower braces that Mopar claims increases the vehicle’s rigidity and betters its handling. Interested customers had better be comfortable working a clutch, as the Mopar ’17 is a six-speed-manual-only affair.
Arguably, the Challenger Mopar ’17’s pièce de résistance is its exterior treatment, which consists of a two-tone paint job. While the lower half of the car is factory finished in either blue or silver, the upper half is Pitch Black, hand-painted at Mopar’s own custom shop. The Pitch Black paint extends to the hood scoop and decklid wing, the latter of which is adorned with a Mopar Design badge, also in black. Additional details include hand-painted 392 fender logos (denoting the engine’s 392 cubic inches of displacement), and black exhaust tips from the Challenger SRT Hellcat. Mopar didn’t leave the interior of the Challenger Mopar ’17 untouched, either. Both front seats sport embroidered Mopar logos on the seatbacks, and contrast stitching is found throughout the interior. Additionally,
