MEXICO — United States Border Patrol agents have seized bundles of marijuana that appear to have been catapulted into the country from the Mexican side of the border.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported in a press release that on February 10, agents were patrolling an area east of the Douglas, Arizona port of entry on the US-Mexico border, when they saw several people on the south side quickly retreat upon seeing them approach.
After they arrived at the fence, the agents discovered a makeshift catapult had been mounted onto it on the Mexico side.
The contraption appeared to have been used by smugglers to launch bales of marijuana over the border and into the U.S.
When agents searched the area, they found two bundles of marijuana that weighed a combined total of over 47 pounds. The catapult was promptly dismantled, then seized by Mexican authorities.
