Fibroids are the most frequently seen tumors of the female reproductive system. Fibroids, also known as uterine myomas, are firm, compact tumors that develop in the uterus. Conventional medical guidelines often suggest that a woman wanting to treat difficult fibroids have a hysterectomy, the surgical removal of the uterus. But many women would rather not undergo an invasive surgical procedure, one that diminishes the chance of pregnancy. Prescription drugs used to treat fibroids, like birth control pills & other hormone-based medications, don’t eliminate the fibroids but cut off the hormones that feed the fibroids.
