DETROIT — Artist Mykki Blanco took to Twitter recently to tell the story of his encounter with what would appear to be a strange case of homophobia.
Blanco recently traveled from Toronto to Detroit on a Delta Airlines flight, where he was reportedly seated next to another man. According to Blanco, while he was asleep during the flight, the man called the police, who woke him up when they landed in Michigan.
The man apparently said he wasn’t comfortable sitting next to Blanco and expressed how he didn’t understand how Delta could have allowed someone like Blanco to board the plane and sit next to him.
The police officer reportedly sided with the complaining passenger, even threatening Blanco with jail time and FBI action if he didn’t cooperate. Blanco was told he could file a report himself to tell “his side of the story,” but according to Blanco, whatever slight his seatmate alleges Blanco inflicted was fabricated.
Delta has since responded, extending their apologies over Twitter and asking for more information.
Blanco said he hoped the company could shed some light on the bizarre incident, and find some way to prove that he had actually been sleeping through the entire flight.
