But if you eat more, as researchers from Imperial College London found, your chances of living longer increase drastically. If people ate up to 10 portions a day, there would be a 24 percent lower risk of heart disease, 33 percent lower risk of stroke, 28 percent lower risk of cardiovascular disease, 13 percent lower risk of cancer, and a 31 percent lower risk of dying early when compared to not eating any fruit or vegetables.
