The White House reportedly blocked several news organizations from attending a press briefing on Friday.
The New York Times said, “Reporters from The Times, CNN and Politico were not allowed to enter the West Wing office of the press secretary, Sean M. Spicer, for the scheduled briefing.”
The Times piece then added, “Organizations allowed in included Breitbart News, the One America News Network and The Washington Times, all news outlets with conservative leanings. Journalists from ABC, CBS, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Fox News also attended.”
According to the Daily Beast, “Journalists expressed outrage at the unusual move, and the Associated Press and Time magazine boycotted the briefing as a result.”
The White House Correspondents’ Association has since issued a statement protesting the incident and encouraging attendees to share information from the meeting with others.
The group has also stated that “The board will be discussing this further with White House staff.”
While CNN reports that no explanation was provided at the time, President Trump has repeatedly attacked the mainstream media in the recent past.
