Learn how to make crispy and soft Medu Vada from homemade medu vada batter from our chef Smita Deo on Ruchkar Mejwani.

Medu Vada is a popular healthy authentic South Indian breakfast recipe that is relished with coconut chutney and sambar.

Ingredients:

2 Cups Urad Dal, soaked for few hours
Oil for frying
Salt to taste

Method:

- Grind the urad dal to a fine batter with using little water.
- Heat the oil for deep frying.
- Once it is hot, dip your fingers in little water and pick the batter in your hand. Shape it round and put your thumb in the center and make a hole. Drop the batter in the oil in round shape and deep fry till light brown and crisp.
- Serve the pipping hot Medu Vada with coconut chutney.
