Approximately 250 former employees of Sterling Jewelers claim its chief executive and other company leaders promoted sexual harassment and discrimination in the corporate culture. The arbitration was first filed in 2008, with records from the 1990s to 2000s, but it was released to the public this week. One former employee stated that a male manager would not give her a raise unless she performed sexual favors. The employees (former and current) are seeking punitive damages and years of back pay. The first class hearing is scheduled for early next year.
