Google just acquired Kaggle, a startup that provides a platform for data science and machine learning competitions. Kaggle competitions are known for allowing data scientists to showcase their skills and find relevant jobs. Now that Kaggle is part of Google, the team will remain together and the service will continue hosting competitions as a brand under Google Cloud. The online platform, which was found in 2010 by CEO Anthony Goldbloom and Ben Hamner, currently hosts about half a million data scientists. Since it's launch, Kaggle raised $12.5 million in funding, according to Crunchbase.
