An Amtrak train derailed as it passed through NY Penn Station and sideswiped a NJ Transit train on Friday morning. The Acela Express 2150 train that was traveling from Boston to Washington D.C. was moving at a slow speed when it derailed. The rear end of the train was still on the platform, but the 248 passengers onboard were able to exit safely with no injuries. New Jersey Transit rail services into Penn Station were suspended for the day following the derailment.
