President Trump tweeted Sunday about the health care bill that failed on Friday.
The House vote on the Obamacare repeal bill was pulled on Friday due to insufficient support, in part from the hard-line Freedom Caucus members.
President Trump took aim at the Freedom Caucus on Sunday, tweeting, "Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!"
Hours before the bill failure on Friday, Trump posted another tweet targeting the group, "The irony is that the Freedom Caucus, which is very pro-life and against Planned Parenthood, allows P.P. to continue if they stop this plan!"
However, in the end, various attempts by the president and House Speaker Paul Ryan couldn't save the bill.
Bloomberg quotes Alice Stewart, a political strategist, as saying, “Members of the Freedom Caucus are committed to their constituents and their conservative values. If President Trump was not aware of their resolve before, he is now."
The group did not think the bill went far enough in repealing certain aspects of Obamacare.
When Trump was asked during a press briefing, if he felt "betrayed" by the Freedom Caucus, he answered, "No, I'm not betrayed. They're friends of mine. I'm disappointed because we could have had it. So I'm disappointed. I'm a little surprised, to be honest with you."
