Lismore community figure Robert ‘Big Rob’ Hamdan broadcast live on Facebook on April 3, showing businesses on Lismore’s main street in the aftermath of the region’s flooding following ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian visited Lismore on April 3.
Turnbull said the disaster was “gut-wrenching” and Berejiklian described the flood as a “once in 40-year event”, according to ABC.
Lismore City Council reported the main street of the central business district, Keen St, was closed to traffic during the cleanup. Crews were attempting to clear rubbish and debris from the streets.
Hamdan is a local business owner and expressed his disgust about looters scouring rubbish piles, as well as the state of his property, following the flood.
