A heartwarming video has emerged from China of a boy holding a girl on his shoulders as her head is stuck in a security net outside a window.

The footage, captured in Yichun, Jiangxi Province on Monday, shows the boy standing on a two-metre-high canopy holding the three-year-old girl feet on his shoulders while firefighters pull her up.

The boy reportedly saw the girl hanging out of the window as he was on his way to school.

The girl was rescued successfully and she was not injured.
