Chilean police and student protesters clashed in Santiago on April 11 as thousands, led by the Federation of Students of the University of Chile (Confech), staged renewed marches across the country, the first of the year against planned reforms.
In this footage, police are seen firing water cannon at protesters as Confech President Daniele Andrade speaks to crowds.
Student protesters say President Michelle Bachelet and her government have failed to improve higher education, and that proposed reforms do not go far enough to introduce free tuition.
