UP Aligarh Muslim University Canteen has been hit by the shortage of meat After UP Govenment cracked down illegal slaughter houses in Uttar Pradesh. Vegetarian meals are being prepared for the students at AMU for the past few days and the meat prices in the state have gone up from Rs. 120 to Rs. 220 per kilogram. AMU Student Union President Faizul Hassan said that the students from middle class are suffering from this decision as the university is on the verge of doubling the mess fees. The students have written an application to the University vice chancellor seeking for solutions. Several other states including Uttarakhand and Rajasthan have also started to shutdown illegal meat shops following UP’s lead.
