A majority of respondents in a recent poll have said they think it is inappropriate for President Trump’s daughter and son-in-law to have such significant roles in the White House.
In Quinnipiac University’s national poll of more than 1,000 voters conducted between April 12 and 18, 53 percent said they did not consider Ivanka Trump’s White House role to be appropriate.
Meanwhile, 36 percent responded that they thought her role, which has been described as an unpaid government employee who advises her father, was appropriate.
The divide was largely along party lines, with 71 percent of Republicans saying it was appropriate and 78 percent of Democrats saying it was not appropriate.
Overall, her favorability rating was mixed, with 36 percent viewing her as favorable, 31 percent as unfavorable, and 27 percent indicated they hadn’t heard enough about her.
Her husband Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to President Trump, had similar poll numbers with regards to his job, with 53 percent saying his role was not appropriate and 32 percent saying it was; his results also reflected partisan divisions, reports The Hill.
However, he had a much lower favorability rating of 15 percent due, in part, to 50 percent admitting they hadn’t heard enough about him to decide.
As Gayle King pointed out in her recent interview with Ivanka on 'CBS This Morning,' Kushner has been involved in numerous foreign policy discussions as well as spearheading the new office of innovation.
The first daughter explained his ability to juggle all the responsibilities by saying, “Jared is incredibly smart, very talented, has enormous capacity. He is humble in the recognition of what he doesn’t know, and is tremendously secure in his ability to...seek informed viewpoints.”
