In the United States, there are two accepted way of increasing the buttock size. This includes fat transfer to the buttock, along with the implant. Fat transfer refers to the procedure wherein liposuction is performed in multiple areas in the body. This fat is processed and injected into the buttock for better shape and projection. However, not everybody is a candidate for buttock fat transfer. Three key qualifiers include the following:
1. To have fat transfer to the buttock you must have enough fat. If you are not at least 20 pounds above your ideal weight, you will not get enough fat for projection and/or shape.
2. Sometimes patients are advised to gain weight before the procedure and maintain it after surgery. Patients with high metabolism and predisposed to being thin are discouraged from receiving fat transfer as their buttocks might shrink from weight loss.
3. For buttock augmentation with implant, a certain amount of skin tightness or a certain degree of skin tone is required. Skin tone refers to how much it can expand once it is stretched. Patients with sagging buttocks cannot be candidates for the procedure.
