Shocking footage has emerged from China of a wave sweeping nine people off their feet near a river.

The video, captured in Linxia, Gansu Province on April 27, shows the wave submerging the river bank and hitting the pedestrians walking on it.

Nine people were reportedly caught in the water and were sent to hospital, two of them had severe injuries.
