President Trump responded to Hillary Clinton's recent comments that FBI Director James Comey's letter impacted the election.
Hillary Clinton appeared at a Women for Women International event in New York on Tuesday and spoke rather candidly about the election, James Comey, and Russia with CNN's Christiane Amanpour.
She took personal responsibility for her loss but also noted, "I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comey's letter on October 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me but got scared off."
Hours later, President Trump took to Twitter.
He wrote, “FBI Director Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds! The phony Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election. Perhaps Trump just ran a great campaign?”
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway tweeted on the matter as well, writing, “You Ignored WI, Called us deplorable/irredeemable, Had oodles of $$ & no message, Lost to a better candidate, From: Woman in the White House.”
