House prevents possible government shutdown by passing new bill

On Wednesday, the House voted 309 to 118 in favor of a bipartisan deal to help fund the government until September 2017. The $1.1 trillion spending deal will refund federal agencies while also boosting funds for defense spending. Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla. Trump, on the other hand, expressed contempt for working with Democrats and said the country "needs a good shutdown." In the bill, Trump has requested additional funding Other areas of funding will be allotted to the National Institute of Health, fighting opioid addiction, and state-funded grants for low-income families seeking mental health resources, among other agencies and institutions.
