A magnitude 5.5 earthquake hit Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwestern China in the early hours of Thursday, May 11, killing at least eight people and injuring 11 others, state media Xinhua reported.
This video from the Xinjiang Fire Department shows firefighters scouring rubble in Taxkorgan County, which borders Tajikistan, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
