On Sunday, Michael Cohen, a Donald Trump attorney, tweeted a black and white art-like photo of his 21-year-old daughter who attends the University of Pennsylvania.
It shows her seated and wearing only lingerie and tights. Cohen wrote, “So proud of my Ivy League daughter...brains and beauty channeling her Edie Sedgwick,” a reference to a model who had close ties to Andy Warhol.
A number of Twitter users swiftly labeled him “Mr. Creepypants.” One accused him of posting material that leans pornographic, to which Cohen replied, “Jealous?”
Cohen also defended himself by commenting, “It's a modeling shot remake from an old Edie Sedgwick photo.”
Notably, he was schooled on how the original differs from his daughter’s version. Shannon Coulter, a Twitter user, pointed out, “Gaze is not demure and downward. It is direct. She is not sitting on draped furniture. She is sitting on a man as if he was furniture. Sedgwick represented the epitome of the modern female sexuality the Trump administration is doing everything in its power to suppress.”
Not everyone found Cohen’s tweet off-putting.
One woman wrote, “As mother of 2 Ivy daughters this pic is no big deal. The kids consider it art & impressive. You people r unsophisticated & out of touch.”
