Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday invoked Monica Lewinsky while slamming former first daughter Chelsea Clinton for her unfavorable comments about him, reports Reuters.
Clinton's criticisms came after Duterte said, sarcastically and in regards to his recent declaration of martial law, that he would assume responsibility for his soldiers’ enforcement actions, even if they included raping three women, notes the Associated Press.
On May 26, Clinton posted a link to an article about the statement and tweeted, “Not funny. Ever.”
She also called Duterte a “murderous thug with no regard for human rights."
The Washington Post notes that during a speech given in the city of Davao, Duterte said, "When your father, the president of the United States, was screwing Lewinsky and the girls there in the White House, how did you feel? Did you slam your father?"
As of Wednesday morning, Clinton had not responded to Duterte’s comment.
