Virginia Senator Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, told USA TODAY that the Russian attack discussed in the leaked NSA report was broader than what has been reported so far. "I don't believe they got into changing actual voting outcomes. But the extent of the attacks is much broader than has been reported so far." The report, which stated that Russian hackers attacked a voting software company and sent deceptive emails to local election officials that day before the 2016 election, was leaked to 'The Intercept' yesterday. Hours after the information was released on Monday, the Justice Department arrested Reality Leigh Winner, a contractor with top-level security clearance, for leaking classified information.
