After news broke of the possibly President Trump may fire special counsel to Robert Mueller, the White House is pushing back on those claims. Previously, a close friend of Trump and the CEO of the conservative media company Newsmax Chris Ruddy told "PBS NewsHour" in an interview Monday that the president is “considering, perhaps, terminating the special counsel, he’s weighing that option." Mr. Ruddy never spoke to the president regarding this issue,” Spicer said in a statement. “With respect to this subject, only the president or his attorneys are authorized to comment. Mueller, an ex-FBI director, was tasked with investigating potential collusion between Russian meddling efforts and the Trump campaign back in May.
