IKEA is in the midst of working with Apple on an AR app that will allow its customers to preview furniture pieces around their home. The initial version of the app lets customers take pictures of their home and place images of IKEA furniture wherever they want. Michael Valdsgaard, IKEA's digital transformation manager, told Swedish website Digital.di that customers will be able to position products with millimeter precision and sizing of the products will be to scale. Valdsgaard hopes to have the app ready by the launch of iOS 11. It's possible that ordering could take place in the app, but not in the first version. IKEA expects have 500-600 products available on the app at launch.
