Police used a stun gun to detain a man outside London Central Mosque in Regent’s Park in the early hours of June 21 following reports he had threatened worshippers.
Witnesses claimed that the man was armed with a baseball bat. The Metropolitan Police later confirmed in a statement that the suspect had been holding a shoe horn and had been arrested on suspicion of affray. No injuries were reported.
“The incident is not being treated as terrorism related at this time,” the Met said in a statement. “Officers are keeping an open mind regarding any motivation for the incident.”
