Thousands of traders gathered at the Millenium Market to protest against the Goods and Services Tax in surat on Monday. The traders feared that the introduction of GST would lead to return of inspector raj and harassment of small traders engaged in textile and apparel business.

ഗുജറാത്തില്‍ ജിഎസ്ടിക്കെതിരായ വസ്ത്രവ്യാപാരികളുടെ സമരത്തില്‍ സംഘര്‍ഷം. സുറത്ത് സിങ് റോഡിലെ മില്ലേനിയം മാര്‍ക്കറ്റില്‍ പ്രക്ഷോഭകര്‍ക്ക് നേരെ പൊലീസ് കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം ലാത്തിച്ചാര്‍ജ് നടത്തി. ടെക്‌സ്റ്റൈല്‍ രംഗത്ത് ജിഎസ്ടി സംഘര്‍ഷ് സമിതി അനിശ്ചിതകാലത്തേക്ക് കടകള്‍ അടച്ചിട്ട് സമരം ചെയ്യാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. തിങ്കളാഴ്ച മാര്‍ക്കറ്റിലെത്തി സമരം ചെയ്ത വ്യാപാരികള്‍ക്ക് നേരെ പ്രകോപനമില്ലാതെ പൊലീസ് ലാത്തിവീശുകയായിരുന്നു എന്നാണ് വ്യാപാരികള്‍ പറയുന്നത്.
