I recently picked up all three games in the Untold Legend series, and I wanted to test them to make sure that I do not need to return them. Once again, I decided to do this by recording some gameplay of them. Here is gameplay of the first game in the franchise Brotherhood of the Blade.
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade was a hack n slash dungeon crawling action RPG released for the Playstation Portable in 2004. This was a launch title for the system developed by Sony Online Entertainment, who had previously developed Champions of Norrath and Everquest. This tells you that the game was in good hands.
Untold Legends carried a pretty big weight on its shoulders, being both a launch title and the only RPG at launch for the system. While the system would be known for RPGs later on, the this game would be tasked with providing a satisfying experience for fans of RPGs, both east and west as well as showing off what the Playstation Portable was capable of, graphically. I think it did an admirable job of both, personally.
Untold Legends does not reinvent the wheel. If you have played Diablo, Champions of Norrath, Titan Quest, Baulders Gate: Dark Alliance or any similar dungeon crawler, you know exactly what to expect from this. You run around. You kill tons of monsters. You pick up new loot and equip your character with it. You level up and grow stronger. IT has co op play, too. Strangely enough, this game was offline co op only. It still served as a decent action RPG experience for new PSP owners at the time, and it would go on to spawn two sequels: Warriors Code for the PSP and Dark Kingdom, a launch title for the Playstation 3.
