New body camera footage released on Tuesday from a January drug bust showed a Baltimore police officer appearing to record himself planting drugs he would later say belonged to a suspect, according to the Baltimore Sun.
While in use, Axon body cameras enter “buffering” mode, allowing them to save up to 30 seconds of video before an officer ever hits “record.” Presumably unaware of this feature, the beginning of the unidentified officer’s body cam footage shows him burying a soup can that is packed with drugs. The same recording later shows his “discovery” of said drugs immediately after the footage of himself putting them there in the first place.
The “discovered” drugs were used as evidence to arrest a suspect. Those charges have since been dropped and the officer is currently suspended. The post Body Cam Footage Shows Baltimore Cop Allegedly Planting Drugs appeared first on Vocativ.
