These monkeys are making themselves at home, while making locals go bananas.
Rhesus macaque monkeys are running wild across Central Florida. The pesky primates are showing up in front yards, by the side of the road and even on rooftops.
Way back in the 1930’s, the monkeys were imported to Silver Springs State Park in Marion County to add more ‘scenery’ to its boat tour.
But as their population got bigger, some escaped, and they have been breeding ever since.
Locals are both curious and annoyed by their new neighbors.
Some steal food like oranges and bananas, but others can get more aggressive if you stare at them directly.
These monkeys don’t mess around.
