President Trump has, in recent days, made his dwindling opinion of Attorney General Jeff Sessions well known, and, according to Axios, he’s already put some thought into potential replacement options.
Citing “West Wing confidants,” Axios reports, “President Trump is so unhappy with…Sessions that he has raised the possibility of bringing back Rudolph Giuliani to head the Justice Department."
However, the publication goes on to note, “Trump often muses about possible personnel moves that he never makes, sometimes just to gauge the listener's reaction. So the Giuliani balloon may go nowhere.”
While Giuliani’s future as the attorney general is speculative at this time, the president continues to make it clear how he feels about the one currently serving.
Trump tweeted on Monday, "…why aren't the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered A.G., looking into Crooked Hillarys crimes & Russia relations?"
Last week in an interview with the New York Times, Trump suggested that Sessions removing himself from matters involving Russia paved the way for special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s appointment.
Trump called the move “very unfair to the president,” and said, “Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.”
