Sam Shepard - the Hollywood playwright and actor has died - at the age of seventy-three. A family spokesman said he passed away at his home in Kentucky from complications caused by a motor neuron disease. In a long career he had won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and was nominated for an Oscar. The BBC's Tim Allman looks back at his life and work.
