CHINA — A mother in China is struggling to cope with DNA test results that have revealed the child she has raised for 28 years is not her flesh and blood.
The woman, surnamed Zhang, claims as the boy grew up, many of her friends would often comment about how oddly handsome he looked compared to his father, saying he was "too good looking." In an interview with Kan Kan News, Zhang admits the boy "has big eyes and a high nose bridge" and that "his father is not very good looking."
The ugly-dad complex continued to bother Zhang's husband to no end, so much so she claims it eventually led to the couple's divorce in 2004. Unable to let things go, in 2011, the man convinced them all to take a DNA test, and sure enough, the boy was not theirs, biologically speaking.
Unable to accept the news, the family members took another DNA test in 2016, and the results came back the same. Zhang is now suing for 1.3 million yuan and hopes to find out what happened to her real child, while helping Wang Ye track down his real parents.
In a statement released this week, the hospital says it has launched an investigation, and will accept responsibility for the mistake if it is proven that it was at fault.
