EUCLID, OHIO — The Euclid Police Department has released dashcam footage in response to public outcry over the brutality a man was subjected to during a routine traffic stop over the weekend.

The morning of August 12, the officers stopped Richard Hubbard III, 25, when he rolled through an intersection. From running his plates, they found out the owner of the vehicle's license was suspended. Following a brief conversation, the officer instructed Hubbard to step out of the vehicle. He was told to face against the car so he could be cuffed, but seconds later, he found himself being manhandled, kicked, and taken to the ground. As the officers pinned him against the asphalt, one of them began punching him repeatedly, as his girlfriend screamed for them to stop.

The police department released the video on August 14, after a bystander video filmed nearby went viral online after being posted to Facebook on August 12. The bystander video has since amassed more than 7 million views on Facebook alone.

According to The Washington Post, Richard Hubbard III was arrested and charged with driving under suspension and resisting arrest. The officer who did this to him has been put on paid administrative leave as an investigation takes place. On Tuesday, Euclid Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer-Gail identified the officer in question as Patrolman Michael Amiott.

Richard Hubbard III was unarmed.
