For those of you who have been following the Ever After High webisodes and collecting Ever After High dolls awhile, you know that Daring Charming is a major charer (for a boy) and that many people have wanted a doll of him for a long time. Well, Mattel finally produced a Daring Charming doll in this 2-pack from the Epic Winter line, pairing him with the daughter of Beauty & The Beast, Rosabella Beauty. The problem, however, is in Mattels execution of Daring Charming.\r
\r
Unlike Dexter Charming (Darings brother), Alistair Wonderland, and Hunter Huntsman, Daring Charming is of poor quality. He is such a disaster in several ways:\r
\r
1) His pants are molded on. \r
2) He doesnt bend below the waist. There is no articulation in his knees or ankles, as there is in the other boy dolls.\r
3) His high-top sneakers are also molded on. Overall, he has a cheap look and feel to him.\r
4) His hair is molded-on, although I dont mind this so much because his personality is very plastic anyway.\r
5) His jacket does not open, and there is a piece of cloth attached to the bottom suggesting a shirt inside. Cheap!\r
\r
On the plus side, he does look a great deal like his cartoon charer, but his execution feels like a Ken doll, to be quite honest. \r
Daring Charming wears his signature letterman jacket lined with fur at the collar - foreshadowing his imminent role as the Beast. He carries a hand-mirror (which is his trademark).the back of which shows a picture of him grown into the Beast.\r
\r
As for Rosabella Beauty, this is not my favorite Rosabella doll. She came with wonky eyes (a lot of the dolls I order on-line seem to have this problem!), and Im not a fan of her thinly rooted hair or her molded-on leggings. Other than these two cons, however, there are quite a number of pros about this Rosabella Beauty doll from Epic Winter: \r
\r
1) I like that she came with a necklace! Yay - finally.\r
2) I like her white fur-lined dress.\r
3) I like the sparkly glasses with the pink snowflakes in the corners.\r
4) I like the rose details throughout her head accessory and her boots.\r
\r
Overall, Im not sure that this 2-pack is worth the price. I only bought it because I am on a mission to collect every Ever After High basic charer, and this Epic Winter 2-pack contained Daring Charming. So I had to buy it, because it was the only way to get him. What do you guys think? Is Ever After High going downhill, like so many collectors fear?
