Mark Messier, a member of the NHL Hall of Fame, talks about his decision to run the 2011 ING New York City Marathon. Messier finished the marathon in 4:14:21. He also raised money for two charities through his efforts, Tomorrow's Children's Fund and Answer the Call.

On the NHL all-time career lists, Messier is second for regular season points (1887), playoff points (295) and regular season games played (1756). He also won six Stanley Cups throughout his career.
