What you need to know about Jared Kushner's emails

Views 5

Multiple news reports claimed Jared Kushner conducted business through a private email address. Here's a breakdown of the situation. Politico reported that Kushner set up a private email account in December and "usually forwarded news articles of political commentary," his lawyer noted. The recipients of said emails? Former chief of staff Reince Priebus, former chief strategist Steve Bannon, and National Economic Council Director Gay Cohn. Politico also reported that Ivanka Trump had an account on the domain. Is any of this illegal? Not really. The Presidential Records Act protects private email accounts, as long as the emails are forwarded to official accounts in a 20 day period. Will there be action taken against the Trump administration? It's a possibility because watchdog groups will most likely file lawsuits if Kushner's emails are not verified to have followed White House procedures.
