The Daranggiri banana market is the largest banana market in Asia, and supplies fruits to the states of Bengal and Bihar, and to Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Though bananas are grown year-round peak season is from September-October, when an average of 50-100 truckloads are sold at the market every day.
